The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has been providing support and unforgettable experiences to children living with diabetes through our camps and family retreats since 1949. Each year, we host thousands of campers and their families across the country, offering a unique blend of adventure, education, mentorship, and fun.

Established in 1955, Camp Midicha is a day and overnight camp where campers enjoy swimming, water sports, hiking, archery, ropes courses, sing-a-longs, campfires, arts and crafts, and more!

ADA Camp is a lifeline for children living with diabetes to develop the critical skills needed to thrive while managing their diabetes. Attending camp helps children develop social skills, self-respect and life-long friendships. Campers meet others just like them while encouraging independence, building self-confidence and gaining an awareness of a healthy lifestyle through education, nutrition, exercise, glucose control, and emotional well-being

*Financial Assistance Available. No child will ever be turned away from camp due to cost. If the camp fee is a roadblock for your family, the American Diabetes Association® offers financial assistance. Nearly half of our families receive financial assistance to cover part or the full cost of camp.

Flexible Pricing Options. We understand that every family's financial situation is unique, that's why we offer three pricing options.

  • Full Price. This is the true cost for a child to attend camp. Families who can pay the full amount may select this option.
  • ADA Sponsored Price. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors, partners, and donations, the ADA subsidizes 50% of the full camp price, offering this discounted rate. 
  • Financial Assistance. Additional assistance is available to qualifying families who cannot afford the discounted sponsored price.

Counselors-in-Training (CIT)
For teens ready to step up from camper to counselor, our CIT program offers training in leadership, character development, and youth-working skills. Financial assistance is available.

Camp Director: Aimee Beauchamp

Aimee Beauchamp

Aimee Beauchamp is a Senior Camp Director for the ADA currently living in Sanford, Florida with her husband Ricky, toddler Emma, baby Landon and their fur babies. Aimee has spent her career working in Girl Scout Camps since 2007.  She started out as a counselor and worked her way to Program Director and then seasonal Camp Director. In 2012 she went full time with Girl Scouts as their year-round Camp Director and eventually Director of Outdoor Program and Summer Camp for multiple locations. She strongly believes that every child should have the opportunity to attend camp and build new relationships through new experiences. When not at camp she spends time with her family and friends exploring new places to eat, beaches and board games. She is excited to welcome you and your campers to camp!  

Medical Director - Residential: Dr. Nader Kasim

Dr. Kasim is a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist and diabetologist at Helen Devos Children’s Hospital, part of Corewell Health, in Grand Rapids, MI. Dr. Kasim's main clinical interests include diabetes and diabetes technology. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 18 years. His outlook to diabetes is balancing quality of life with overall, long-term health. He does not let diabetes hold him back and acknowledges that diabetes is a part of him. He likes to be outdoors with his family, spending most of his time running and cycling. He has competed in multiple endurance races including marathons, trail races, and cycling rides.

Medical Director - Day: Dr. Inas H. Thomas 

Dr. Inas Thomas graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2003. She did her pediatric residency followed by a pediatric endocrinology fellowship at the University of Michigan. She joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 2009 where she is the Medical Director for the Pediatric Diabetes Program and is involved in several institution-wide initiatives to improve diabetes care at Michigan Medicine. Dr. Thomas also became the Director for Division of Pediatric Endocrinology in August 2022. Dr. Thomas serves as the Associate Director for Pediatric Clinical Research and Diabetes Program with the Caswell Diabetes Institute, supporting the overarching mission to support rigorous science and its integration with patient-centered clinical care. She continues as the Principal Investigator for TrialNet and new onset diabetes studies at the University of Michigan.

Note: Not all positions are available at each camp. You can find specific roles for your camp when applications open. The safety of our campers is our number one priority. All volunteers, staff and medical personnel must complete an application, interview, and background check before being hired. Must be 18 years or older to apply.
