Founded in 1940, the American Diabetes Association is celebrating our 75th Anniversary. The Garden Party Diamond Gala will celebrate this milestone and the discovery, innovation and progress we’ve made together to improve the lives of people with diabetes.

This annual fundraising dinner supports our programs and efforts in education, advocacy and research for those in Central Virginia. The festive evening at the historic John Marshall Ballrooms in downtown Richmond includes a cocktail reception, live and silent auctions, dinner and entertainment by the JTL Band.

The Garden Party Planning Committee is pleased to announce Kat Simons of Lite 98 as Mistress of Ceremonies. An advocate for many local charities and a mainstay of Lite 98 since February 1998, Kat’s show keeps Richmond rocking middays from 10:00am – 3:00pm.

Honorees 

The American Diabetes Association’s mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. We know we can’t fulfill this promise without the dedication of community volunteers leading the charge in mission delivery and raising funds to support our efforts.  The Association’s Central Virginia office has initiated leadership awards to recognize the passion and energy of individuals and organizations committed to our cause.

The Distinguished Health Professional Award honors a researcher, clinician or health educator who has demonstrated expertise in the field of diabetes. Recipients have positively impacted the lives of patients, caregivers and families as they expand the field of diabetes research in pursuit of a cure, or dedicate themselves to improving outcomes for people with diabetes and prediabetes.
