Timeline for Submitting an Application
Applications will be accepted from September 16–December 9, 2022.
Member Selection Process
Each year the ADA conducts a call for applications for members of its standing national committees.
Applications for each committee are reviewed by both the current and incoming chair of that committee, in partnership with the committee staff liaison. Applications are evaluated based upon the expertise and service of the individuals in context of the needs, goals and objectives of the committee and the ADA. The review process may also take into consideration additional information about applicants as necessary and appropriate.
The proposed 2023 committee membership will be submitted to the ADA's Board of Directors for review and approval in early December. New committee members will be notified of their appointment shortly after this approval process for appointments to begin in January 2023.
Completing an Application
Individuals interested in being considered for appointment to a National Committee in 2023 should submit an application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please review the committee description and requirements before completing.

Terms for Committee Service
An individual may serve as a committee member for an initial two-year term. Appointments shall coincide with the ADA's fiscal year (The Scientific Sessions Meeting Planning Committee is the exception. The term of service is July 1–June 30 to align with their program planning timeline).
Meetings and Expenses
Most national committees meet in person at least once per year. Consistent with our reimbursement guidelines, the American Diabetes Association pays for reasonable and appropriate travel and hotel expenses for committee members in connection with official meetings. Members may also choose to pay their own expenses, which typically qualify as a tax-deductible contribution for income tax purposes.
