Raising Awareness During American Diabetes Month!

November 25, 2019

Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), Co-Chairs of the Senate Diabetes Caucus, introduced S. Res. 431, a resolution that brings awareness to diabetes during American Diabetes Month (ADM). The resolution emphasizes the impact that diabetes has on everyone and the high healthcare costs individuals with diabetes face. On November 19th, the Senate passed the resolution by unanimous consent.

30.3 million Americans live with diabetes, 7.2 million are undiagnosed, and 90% of the 84 million Americans that have prediabetes do not know it. Therefore, we thank the Senators for shining a light on diabetes during ADM as we continue our advocacy efforts to bring awareness and take action for all people with diabetes.
