
Cynthia Muñoz, PhD, MPH

Cynthia Muñoz, PhD, MPH, was selected as the 2015 recipient of the Steve Bieringer “Keep on Trucking” Award. A pediatric psychologist, Cynthia is a dogged advocate for people with diabetes in her Los Angeles community and around the country.
As a trained Advanced School Advocate and past ADA Advocacy Committee chair in Los Angeles, Cynthia dedicates countless hours to advocate on behalf of people with diabetes by educating and training others about diabetes and discrimination. Her work includes holding workshops for families of children with diabetes, and training school nurses in the Los Angeles Unified School District and Greater Los Angeles Area about diabetes, improving the care provided to students with diabetes in one of the largest school districts in the country. In addition, Cynthia is a trained school advocate who assists individual families navigate the school process to ensure their child receives needed diabetes management while he or she is at school.
In recognition of her unwavering dedication to helping people with diabetes and her contributions to building the Safe at School campaign, the Association was pleased to present Cynthia Muñoz with the 2015 Steve Bieringer "Keep on Trucking" Award.
