Charles D. “Chuck” Henderson is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Diabetes Association® (ADA).
Chuck joined the ADA in January 2020 after spending 24-plus years in for-profit sectors and volunteering in the non-profit sector. Philanthropy and Sales/Fundraising are threaded through the fabric of his DNA. Chuck comes to the ADA from Champion Life Safety Solutions where he was CEO and President. Before that, he was a Field Sales Executive running multi-billion-dollar territories across the country for Dell Healthcare, Common ground Marketing (including executing special events in the field), and Viacom. His professional skill set and success, coupled with his passion and desire to give back, make this a perfect time to lead a non-profit organization. He is passionate about spending the balance of his career in a space that will make a significant impact on the lives of millions across the country.
Chuck is skilled in building trusted and collegial working relationships, relationship selling/fundraising, driving productivity, leading, and supporting change-management initiatives. He has deep experience developing best-of-breed, solution-selling leaders who think as strategic business partners, with a culture of winning as a team and over-delivering results.
A native Texan, Chuck has a strong commitment to his family, community, and church. An avid golfer, Chuck is also involved with his alma mater, Texas A&M where he serves on boards and leverages his professional skills to raise money for the school in different capacities. When he is not working on fundraising for A&M causes, he is working on raising capital funds for his church, where he serves on the Board of Trustees. Chuck is married to his beautiful wife Courtney, and together they have a bright teenage daughter, Charlie.
Charlotte is Chief Operating Officer for the American Diabetes Association. Since 1940, the ADA has been committed to its mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
Charlotte is responsible for driving strategic initiatives, managing financial resources, and ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness of ADA's programs and services. The divisions reporting into Charlotte include Procurement & Administrative Services, Convention Operations, Data Analytics, Financial Services, Human Resources, Information Technology & Services, Legal & Compliance, and Operations.
Charlotte first joined the ADA in 1990 and is a seasoned leader with decades of experience in both not-for-profit and public accounting. She has led several financial and operating teams through business process redesigns, system implementations, strategic business planning and execution, resource recruitment and allocation, budgeting, and designing KPI measurements.
Prior to joining the American Diabetes Association, Charlotte was a staff accountant at Ronald K. King, CPA, where she was responsible for compilation and tax preparation for several individuals, partnerships and corporations. Additionally, she was part of the audit assurance team.
Charlotte holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Rita Rastogi Kalyani, MD, MHS, previously served on the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA’s) National Board of Directors as president of medicine & science and as a dedicated ADA volunteer for two decades. Her commitment to extraordinary diabetes care is exemplified by her leadership of several successful programs in diabetes research, clinical practice, and education on a national and international level during her tenure as a professor of medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Kalyani has conducted epidemiological and patient-oriented research that has led to fundamental discoveries regarding the development of skeletal muscle loss, physical disability, and frailty in diabetes. She has also spearheaded studies investigating sex differences in cardiovascular disease and diabetes which have influenced primary prevention guidelines. Dr. Kalyani served as a principal investigator on the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded grants and on investigator teams bringing in more than $30 million in funding. She has over 175 peer-reviewed publications, including a solo authored clinical practice review in the New England Journal of Medicine on contemporary treatments for type 2 diabetes (2021).
Dr. Kalyani founded and has served as director of the Diabetes Management Service for the state-of-the-art Total Pancreatectomy Islet Auto Transplant program at Johns Hopkins with a clinical referral base from across the U.S. and internationally. She has led statewide diabetes initiatives in Maryland; steered international diabetes collaborations across the Caribbean, Middle East, and Asia; and received major recognition, including the Endocrine Society’s Laureate Award for Outstanding Public Service. Dr. Kalyani has also coauthored two award-winning books for people living with diabetes.
She completed her bachelor’s degree in neurobiology at Harvard College. She received her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she also completed a residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. Dr. Kalyani completed a Master of Health Science in clinical investigation from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Strategic Healthcare Leadership Program at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.
Osagie Ebekozien, MD, MPH, CPHQ, is the Chief Quality Officer for the American Diabetes Association (ADA). In this role, he leads ADA efforts to transform diabetes and obesity quality outcomes and improving access to evidence-based practice.
He most recently served as the Chief Medical Officer for T1D Exchange, Boston. In that role, he led diabetes clinical affairs, quality, healthcare access, and population health improvement. Prior to his time at T1D Exchange, he held roles in several capacities in primary care transformation, obesity, and type 2 diabetes management.
He is a recipient of several awards including the 2024 James Reed NMA Outstanding Physician, 2022 Eli Lilly Leonard (Diabetes Research), the 2021 ISPAD International Pediatric Diabetes Innovation, and the 2019 NACCHO Model Practice awards amongst others. He has co-authored more than 100 manuscripts and is a frequent speaker at professional conferences
Lisa Murdock is the Chief Advocacy Officer for the American Diabetes Association. With more than 30 years of government affairs experience, Lisa leads the ADA’s advocacy efforts to ensure people with diabetes have access to adequate and affordable health care, insulin and other medications, healthy food and other prevention programs, and that students with diabetes have medically safe and equal access to education.
With nearly 30 years of experience across the marketing and digital landscape, Jacque Sebany brings a distinctive blend of strategic leadership, creative vision, and operational expertise shaped by both nonprofit and corporate environments. Her expertise spans brand and business strategy, integrated marketing, digital transformation, customer engagement, user experience/user interface, content and experience design, front-end development, and performance-driven marketing.
Prior to returning to the ADA in her current role, Jacque served as the ADA’s chief marketing and digital officer (CMDO) from 2020 to 2022. She later launched her own consulting practice while continuing to partner with the ADA to lead marketing and brand strategy for its scientific meetings, including the Scientific Sessions, the Clinical Update Conference, and the Diabetes Technology Meeting.
As CMDO, Jacque leads growth-focused initiatives that bring the ADA brand to life, deepen engagement, and drive revenue across the organization. She oversees the continued evolution of the marketing ecosystem to deliver integrated, data-driven campaigns, elevate the ADA’s voice through impactful communications, and create innovative experiences that strengthen both revenue growth and emotional connection with the communities the ADA serves.
Jacque previously spent more than six years with the American Heart Association where she led digital content strategy initiatives designed to advance mission impact and strengthen audience engagement. Her work in the health nonprofit space has deepened her passion for purpose-driven organizations and reinforced her belief in marketing as a powerful tool for creating meaningful change within the communities these organizations serve.
Throughout her agency career, Jacque has led strategic marketing and brand initiatives for clients including FedEx, the United States Department of the Treasury, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Gold’s Gym, Hyatt Hotels, and numerous leading consumer brands.
A creative at heart, Jacque holds a degree in art with concentrations in fashion and interior design. She is passionate about transforming organizations and elevating brand experiences through a design-driven, audience-first approach. Known for building high-performing teams and modernizing marketing operations, she brings a rare combination of creativity, strategy, and growth leadership to every organization she serves.
Elizabeth Dunn is the ADA’s chief development and revenue officer. Throughout her career in national nonprofit, she has worked across a variety of functions, including marketing, volunteer engagement, and corporate partnerships, giving her a broad perspective on how mission-driven organizations operate and grow. Elizabeth leads the ADA’s revenue strategy, field development, and strategic growth initiatives to help expand the organization’s reach, engagement, and mission impact.
