Robb Wilson was selected as the 2016 recipient of the Steve Bieringer “Keep on Trucking” award. A pharmacist, Robb has dedicated many years to diabetes advocacy on behalf of both people with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.
After his grandchildren were diagnosed with diabetes, Robb learned about the Association’s Advanced School Advocacy Training program, and signed up to attend a training and become an Advanced School Advocate. He hasn’t slowed down since, becoming the advocacy chair in Harrisburg, PA, attending Call to Congress to meet with members of Congress, and getting deeply involved in the Association’s efforts to pass Safe at School legislation in Pennsylvania—a decade-long fight to ensure kids with diabetes have access to trained school staff to keep them safe at school. Along the way, Robb helped educate, advocate on behalf of, and train dozens of families of children with diabetes, using his pharmacy expertise to help schools become more comfortable with diabetes care and to dispel myths about the dangers of diabetes medications.
In recognition of his years of diabetes advocacy and his untiring efforts to keep children in Pennsylvania safe at school, the Association was pleased to present Robb Wilson with the 2016 Steve Bieringer "Keep on Trucking" award.
