Panelists to Discuss Supporting a Healthier Workforce: Navigating Diabetes Progression and Management

The American Diabetes Association® (ADA) is proud to once again host its annual State of Diabetes: Houston during American Diabetes Month® at Junior League of Houston.

“We are excited to host the State of Diabetes event here in Houston to spotlight the latest advancements in diabetes care and to address the critical challenges faced by our community. With the growing number of individuals impacted by diabetes, it’s essential that we work together—health care professionals, business leaders, and community advocates—to improve access to quality care, enhance research efforts, and ultimately change the future of this disease for the better. This event is an opportunity for us to strengthen our collective efforts and drive meaningful impact in the fight to end diabetes,” said Chad Srader, the ADA’s executive director, Southeast Texas area.

In Texas, approximately 2,552.500 adults, or 11.1% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Each year, an estimated 135,300 adults in Texas are diagnosed. The annual State of Diabetes event serves as a pivotal gathering, uniting employers, industry leaders, health care providers, and community experts. On a shared platform, professionals engage with an expert panel in critical discussions on how to leverage ADA resources to address the contemporary landscape of diabetes and the financial impact on employers and employees. Discussions are followed by a networking session.

This year’s State of Diabetes event is made possible through the generous support of sponsors including DaVita, Lilly, UT Health, Kidney Associates, Sanofi, Abbott, and Novo Nordisk. Their contributions enable us to convene experts, community leaders, and advocates to address the pressing issues surrounding diabetes care and prevention. With their partnership, the ADA is able to continue driving meaningful change in the health of our community and advancing our mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

“At DaVita, we are committed to accelerating our communities towards a healthier tomorrow. We are honored to be a presenting sponsor of Houston’s State of Diabetes event to reinforce our dedication and to foster important conversations about addressing the barriers and issues facing patients in today’s health care landscape,” said Seth Miller, group vice president at DaVita and chair of State of Diabetes: Houston.

Over 38 million Americans are living with diabetes, and with health care costs at an all-time high, people with diagnosed diabetes have on average 2.6 times higher medical expenditures than those without. This year’s esteemed speakers will share their expert perspectives during the panel Supporting a Healthier Workforce: Navigating Diabetes Progression and Management.
