“State of Diabetes is a leadership convening designed to bring the right people and perspectives to the table and equip decision-makers with the information and insights they need to improve diabetes and obesity care and access,” said Megan Lucas, the ADA’s executive director in New York. “By connecting the latest evidence and guidelines with the realities of how care is delivered, covered, and accessed, we can help leaders identify opportunities to turn what we know into meaningful action for people living with diabetes, obesity, or both.”
Over 40 million Americans are living with diabetes, and every 21 seconds, someone is newly diagnosed. In New York, approximately 1,906,000 adults, or 10.8% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Each year, an estimated 124,000 adults in the state are diagnosed. Additionally, approximately 30% of the adult population are living with obesity. State of Diabetes is an annual community event that brings together employers, payers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders for meaningful discussions around diabetes and obesity prevention, treatment, and cost; workplace wellness; and improving access to care.
This year’s event will feature an expert panel discussion: From Diabetes and Obesity Guidelines to Outcomes: Translating Evidence Into Real-World Practice.
The event will include:
- A panel discussion led by distinguished experts sharing insights on diabetes and obesity
- A networking reception providing opportunities for attendees to collaborate and share ideas
- The opportunity to connect during a post-event mixer for ADA professional members or those interested in learning more about ADA professional membership
Attendees will also receive a variety of ADA resources designed to enhance diabetes prevention, management, and support, as well as access to a digital action-oriented toolkit summarizing key insights and strategies.
This year’s event is sponsored by National Sponsor Lilly, Premier Sponsor FleishmanHillard, Elite Sponsor Abacus Health Solutions, Supporting Sponsors FlyteHealth, and NYU Langone Health.
