“The American Diabetes Association (ADA) applauds Governor John Carney for signing Senate Bill 107 to eliminate cost sharing for insulin pumps for state-regulated health plans, state employee coverage, and Medicaid. The ADA is also grateful for the legislative leadership from bill sponsors Senator Marie Pinkney and Representative David Bentz,” said Stephen Habbe, Director, State Government Affairs. “Insulin pumps have been shown to contribute to improved control of blood glucose levels helping to prevent complications from diabetes. This law will remove the cost sharing barrier to beginning insulin pump therapy, allowing greater access to this care-enhancing technology for so many who need it and are struggling to afford care.”
