Panelists to Discuss Supporting a Healthier Workforce: Diabetes, Prevention, Resources, and Management Strategies for Employers

The American Diabetes Association® (ADA) is proud to host its annual State of Diabetes: Denver on World Diabetes Day, November 14, at the bitewell headquarters in Denver, CO.

"I am proud to be part of an organization dedicated to preventing and curing diabetes and improving lives of all people affected by diabetes. Our mission drives everything we do—from advancing research to advocating for those affected. It’s an honor to be part of the State of Diabetes event which will be very impactful and create a healthier future for our communities,” said Beth Muehlethaler, the ADA’s executive director, Colorado area.

In Colorado, approximately 322,900 adults, or 6.9% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Each year, an estimated 27,500 adults in Colorado are diagnosed. The annual State of Diabetes event serves as a pivotal gathering, uniting employers, industry leaders, health care providers, and community experts. On a shared platform, professionals engage with an expert panel in critical discussions on how to leverage ADA resources to address the contemporary landscape of diabetes and the financial impact on employers and employees. Discussions are followed by a networking session.

With National Sponsor, Lilly, and Local Sponsors, bitewell, HCA HealthONE and Cigna the ADA is thrilled to bring State of Diabetes to Denver.

“I am honored to chair the first annual State of Diabetes event for the Rocky Mountains in partnership with the American Diabetes Association. When you know a problem, you can solve a problem. This event, and the data being shared, will help us deeply know/understand the problem the Rocky Mountain region is facing so that we can band together to solve it,” said Sam Citro Alexander, CEO/Co-Founder of bitewell, and Chair of the State of Diabetes event.

Over 38 million Americans are living with diabetes, and with health care costs at an all-time high, people with diagnosed diabetes have on average 2.6 times higher medical expenditures than those without. This year’s esteemed speakers will share their expert perspectives on the panel Supporting a Healthier Workforce: Diabetes, Prevention, Resources, and Management Strategies for Employers.
